He was lying wounded on the battle field, when she approached, and knelt beside him. Tenderly she put her hand on his head and spoke.
They are coming for you soon, It will be alright
He groaned
They will be here, she said, Dont worry
He was enjoying her presence, Her gentle hand upon his head. Her kind words.
I have to go now, but they will be here in a moment
Her long skirt brushed against him as she stood to leave. Of course it was just a reenactment. They were just trying to give the neighbors a taste of blood and gore for Halloween. He was carried to the field hospital, an antebellum mansion built over a cavern, where the signatures of those wounded in the original battle still cover the wall. He turned to the man playing surgeon.
Who is the young lady tending the wounded?
He was greeted by a puzzled look. Can you describe her? He is asked.
He went into detail. Her looks, manor, dress, voice, and as he did a smile crossed the doctors face.
You must have met Sally he replied The only person matching your description, died on the battle field in 1866, But she shows up for reenactments sometimes.
Note, This took place at Hupp's hill, just outside of Strausburg Virginia. A couple of days after this incident, this young man was killed in a tragic car accident not far from the battle site. He and Sally have been seen walking together there.
